Born in Finland and later a proud Canadian citizen, Risto Helin was a gifted water colourist whose work celebrated humour, movement, and the beauty of imperfection. His Fat Ballerinas series (1997–2011) became a joyful exploration of emotion and individuality, challenging conventional standards of beauty long before body positivity became mainstream.
His artistic spirit continues to live on through the laughter and inspiration his art evokes in every viewer.

A MANSION'S SOUL
"IF WALLS COULD TALK"
WITH ADAM WYNNE
“Foy House”, also known as the Foy-Smith House, is a Heritage House, located at 92 Isabella Street,
Toronto,
This Victorian mansion, built in 1888, was once the residence of Ontario's former Attorney General,
James Joseph Foy. What makes it so special is its lavish historical décor, including a grand carved staircase, stained-glass windows, etched transoms, plasterwork medallions, and elegant fireplace mantels.
These features reflect the elegance of high society during that era. Today, the house showcases works by
local artists and can be rented for events.
